About the Role: Project Design Engineer
As a Project Design Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, leading, and supporting the design aspects of LPG, LNG, and Metered Estate installations—ensuring upgrades and new projects adhere to company standards and prioritise safety by design.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilise Flogas’ standardised design approach where possible, creating tailored solutions based on client briefs with input from design partners, in-house teams, and subcontractors.
- Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders during early project phases, aligning expectations through regular communication and discussions on design requirements and technical specifications.
- Act proactively to optimise value and standardisation, ensuring cutting-edge technological improvements and compliance with current legislation and regulations.
- Provide technical support to Sales for new business deals and pipeline prospects.
- Champion safety-first philosophy by ensuring all large or bespoke projects undergo rigorous safety assessments.
- Work toward standardising design and documentation for proven, reliable plant configurations.

Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or a similarly relevant technical discipline).
- Design experience in a process-intensive or engineering-focused role.
- Knowledge of process and control engineering, with participation in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) projects.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, particularly in preparing engineering drawings.
- Prior experience in chemical or petrochemical plant design environments.
- Proven experience with:
- Process equipment sizing.
- Calculations for gas pipelines—pressure drop, gas velocities, heat balance equations.
- Design safety studies, such as HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, SIL.
- GCSE qualifications in Maths & English (or equivalent).
