Project Design Engineer

Permanent Full-Time

Salary – Circa £40,000 DOE
Location – Office based in Wiltshire

Join a specialist engineering company providing bespoke vehicle design, coach-building, and high-quality fabrication. Combining precision engineering with advanced electrical integration and professional paintwork, they design and manufacture custom, premium transport solutions for the broadcast, command and control, and motorsport sectors.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Project Design Engineer who will take full ownership of custom vehicle design projects, leading shop-floor teams and collaborating directly with clients. If you are a SolidWorks expert who thrives on translating complex briefs into high-performance, real-world transport solutions, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Utilising SolidWorks to create highly accurate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed technical drawings for bespoke coach-built vehicle projects
  • Translating smaller, intricate assemblies into large, complex final vehicle assemblies
  • Breaking down complex individual drawings (often numbering in the hundreds) into clear, production-ready engineering packs for the workshop
  • Taking full lifecycle ownership of design projects from concept to completion, managing independent workloads, guiding shop floor teams, and ensuring client specifications are met under strict deadlines
  • Working directly with clients to map out needs, provide tailored design solutions, and refine vehicle specifications. Liaising fluidly with internal teams, clients, and suppliers
  • Working tightly alongside engineers, fabricators, and fellow designers to ensure seamless, high-quality project execution
  • Identifying and resolving intricate design challenges, ensuring absolute compliance with manufacturing processes and strict industry standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
