Project Design Engineer
Flogas – Design Project Engineer

How You’ll Power Our Business
As a Design Project Engineer, you’ll lead the design development for high-impact projects, including upgrades for customers and depots, covering LPG, LNG, and Metered Estates. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and standardising design work for new installations and plant upgrades in line with company guidelines and safety-by-design principles.
- Ensuring our transition to 100% renewable energy by 2040, supporting customers in reducing carbon emissions, promoting heat pumps, solar panels, biofuels, and renewable gases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop design solutions for client briefs, collaborating with internal design teams and external partners, while adhering to definitive standards.
- Establish and maintain early-stage relationships with clients and stakeholders, clarifying expectations through regular discussions on design requirements and technical specifications.
- Drive value engineering standards, staying proactively updated on technological advancements and compliance changes.
- Support Sales teams in technical project feasibility assessments and consultations.
- Champion safety initiatives, ensuring be-spoke projects undergo necessary safety studies like HAZOP, PHA, LOPA and SIL.
- Champion standardisation in documentation for proofed plant configurations to achieve efficiency gains.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent in engineering-dependent fields).
- Hands-on experience in design roles, with front-end engineering design (FEED) experience.
- Proven expertise in Process and Control Engineering, particularly with:
- 3D CAD proficiency (including engineering drawings).
- Process equipment sizing, pressure drop analysis and simulation in gas pipelines, heat balance calculations, gas flow velocities, etc.
- Familiarity with roles within the chemical or petrochemical industry within a plant design environment.
- GCSE-level qualifications in Maths and English (or equivalents).
- Industry certification in safety protocol studies such as HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, and SIL.
