The Project Design Engineer – Mechanical Role
This hybrid Project Management & Design Engineering position empowers you to manage project lifecycles—from outline to detailed design—while supporting a multi-disciplinary team. Here’s what you’ll do:
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a "project triangle" with a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor, ensuring seamless alignment of technical, constructability, and commercial aspects.
- Lead the design of water or wastewater treatment/infrastructure projects through all stages: concept, outline, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams (civil, electrical, mechanical, process designers, BIM modelers, and specialists).
- Maintain project progress, budgets, and quality to meet client framework and industry specifications.
- Convey design expertise internally and mentor junior colleagues as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with Yorkshire Water’s project, operational, and technical teams.

Requirements
Applicants should hold:
- An accredited Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Incorporated membership of a recognized Engineering Institution.
- Outline + detailed design experience specifically for water/wastewater projects.
- Clear understanding of Designer/Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
