Project Design Engineer
Design Project Engineer at Flogas

How You’ll Power Our Business
As a Design Project Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, leading, and supporting design aspects for:
- LPG, LNG, and Metered Estate upgrades
- New installation projects
- Co-ordinating design work for new installations and plant upgrades, ensuring alignment with company standardisation and safety-by-design principles.
We’re transitioning towards 100% renewable energy by 2040, guiding customers to switch from oil to gas and developing exciting new solutions like heat pumps, solar panels, bio-fuels, and renewable gases. Your role supports environmental progress while offering job security and invaluable experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilise Flogas’ standardised design approach to solve client briefs, collaborating with strategic partners, in-house designers, and subcontractors.
- Build and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders during early project stages, ensuring clear communication and expectation management.
- Proactively implement value engineering and standardisation, staying updated with technological advancements and legislative changes.
- Provide technical support to Sales on enquiries and pipeline prospects.
- Drive safety culture by ensuring bespoke projects comply with relevant safety studies.
- Promote standardisation in design and documentation for conventional and proven plant configurations.

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Previous experience in design-related roles.
- Experience in process and control engineering with Front End Engineering Design (FEED) involvement.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, including engineering drawing preparation.
- Industry experience in Chemical or Petrochemical plant design.
- Knowledge of process equipment sizing (e.g., pressure drop calculations, gas velocities) and thermal balance equations for pipelines.
- GCSE Maths & English (or equivalents).
- Technical awareness of design safety studies (e.g., HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, SIL).
