We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Project Director to join our Energy team, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the successful delivery of projects to agreed scope, cost, quality, programme, and completion targets.
- Manage end-to-end project lifecycle, including design, engineering, construction, commercial delivery, and handover.
- Lead risk and value engineering processes, identifying, and implementing cost savings and mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear direction, leadership, and motivation to internal teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure project requirements are effectively communicated and understood by all stakeholders.
- Drive excellence across safety, health, environmental, and quality standards, championing continuous improvement.
- Advise on project planning, providing insights, recommendations, and regular updates to stakeholders.
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively managing expectations and performance reviews.
- Deliver high-quality installations that meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and company policies, procedures, and governance standards.
- Monitor project performance and resource utilisation, ensuring cost efficiency and optimal allocation.
- Lead, coach, and develop project teams, addressing performance issues where necessary.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships, driving performance and collaboration.
- Ensure all works are designed, delivered, and certified in line with required standards and specifications.
- Review and approve project documentation, including management plans and safety documentation.
- Contribute to business planning, ensuring delivery of financial and operational targets.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth within and beyond existing contracts.
- Support bid development, including strategy, solution design, and tender negotiations.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- PTS and/or LUL LUCAS accreditation (essential)
- CRE accreditation
- SMSTS (5-day certification)
- Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
- Experience delivering multi-site projects involving multiple technical disciplines.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate high-performing teams.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exacting standards of quality and compliance.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Ability to monitor performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to identify and drive business growth opportunities.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to see the wider business impact of decisions.
- Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders to set and deliver operational targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to present, influence, and build strong business cases at a senior level.
- Initiative-taking, purposeful, and initiative-taking approach

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
