About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and Driven Project Director to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and optimising operational performance, ensuring project delivery excellence, and driving business growth in alignment with H&MV Engineering’s strategic objectives. You'll work closely with Delivery teams, clients, and stakeholders to meet the challenges of today’s demanding utility market, enabling us deliver least cost solutions that do not compromise safety, quality, or customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Deliverables:
- Leads a team of project managers, commercial managers and lead engineers.
- Receives regular reports from the project manager, commercial manager, lead engineer and/or team leads to monitor project performance.
- Has authority to make changes to project program and resources.
- Attends all major project and principals’ meetings with clients, attends monthly internal project meeting and ensures project team are carrying out appropriate level of internal meetings. Attends all weekly review meetings as much as possible.
- Ensuring H&MV polices/standards are maintained on project.
- Ensures project team is working efficiently with the supporting departments, safety, procurement, quality, planning.
- Reports project performance to Regional Operations Director.
- Manages project risks and opportunities with project teams.
- Escalate any site issues to Regional Operations Director.
- Ensuring project commercials are accurate and processes are being followed.
- Involved heavily at sub-contractor appointment stage to ensure no scope gaps.
- Review all contract documentation prior to contract signing (program is correct, milestone schedule is correct, Scope of work is clear, and risk register is up to date from estimating team)
- Assists Regional Operations Director in ensuring adequate labour is on project and suitable project team is in place for the duration of the job.
- Has Overall accountability for their project’s success.

Client Engagement Role:
- Develops business opportunities with existing clients and supports pipeline plans.
- Lead all early project discussions with clients on a design and delivery point of view.
- Work closely with BD team on developing business opportunities with new clients.
- Escalation points for Clients and ensures client satisfaction during project lifecycle.
- Negotiate any potential Variations with clients that project team may be struggling with. Ensuring any EOT’s or Escalations are handled correctly with the clients and can be done with a collaborative approach.
- Ensuring clients are kept informed during tender stage or during validation periods to ensure that they are not surprised by any cost uplifts, program or major lead time issues.
- Working closely with clients at LOI/LNTP stage to ensure future project dates can be met and managing their expectations on project deliverables.
Interface and reporting lines:
- Gives weekly and monthly update on projects as part of Regional Leadership Team meetings.
- Attends monthly internal project meeting on their projects to be available for any questions from senior management team that may arise.
- Attends monthly Commercial review meeting for their respective project updates and to discuss any potential risks/concerns.
- Works with Regional Operations Director to ensure all project resources are adequate, labour is performing on site and to ensure that Ops team have clear lookahead on future requirements so they can future plan across all projects.
- Attends Monthly review meeting with the H&MV Executive team to discuss the Project Performance.

Key Requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field
- 5+ years as a Project Director or similar role in a construction setting
- Project experience in a Data Centre setting
- High Voltage Substation experience
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, trusted at all levels from boardroom to site.
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity, addressing sensitive issues, and leading cross-functional teams to effective solutions.
- Results-driven, with consistent success in delivering large-scale projects safely, on time, and within budget.
- Proven track record of delivery large scale complex projects for blue chip clients.
- Resilient under pressure, adept at managing complex operational and commercial challenges in dynamic environments.
- Strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and the highest ethical and professional standards.
- Prior use of Microsoft packages
