Project Director

Project Director – Major Civil Infrastructure Programme

Salary: £120,000 – £170,000 per annum + package and benefits Type: Full Time Region: UK – South West


About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Director to lead a major critical infrastructure programme involving complex heavy civil engineering and large-scale structural works. This role is suited to someone who thrives in demanding environments and brings self-delivery experience.

We are seeking a hands-on leader who can:

  • Take full ownership of a high-value, multi-disciplinary programme.
  • Manage significant structural components, including:
    • Reinforced concrete
    • Fibre-reinforced concrete
    • Other heavy civil engineering packages.
  • Operate within a highly regulated environment, ensuring disciplined planning, strong governance, and confident leadership across safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Drive delivery, shape culture, and ensure performance across:
    • Contractors
    • Stakeholders
    • Internal teams.

  • Provide strategic direction, programme assurance, and disciplined project controls.

    • Regulatory engagement across all work fronts.
  • Build and lead:

    • A culture of ownership, collaboration, and delivery excellence.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Project Director or senior project leader in major infrastructure programmes.
  • Background delivering with:
    • Tier 1 contractors
    • Tier 2 contractors.
  • Strong technical understanding of:
    • Heavy structures
    • Reinforced concrete
    • Fibre-reinforced concrete
    • Complex civil engineering.
  • Experience delivering in highly regulated environments, including:
    • Nuclear
    • Energy
    • Rail
    • Defence
    • Water
    • Aviation.
  • Demonstrable ability to:
    • Lead teams
    • Manage complex interfaces
    • Drive performance.
  • Comfortable with lodging during the week due to project location and delivery demands.
