Project Director
Location: London & South East
The Opportunity
A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of major construction projects valued in excess of £50 million across London and the South East.
This is an opportunity to join a highly respected business with a strong pipeline of secured work across the education, public sector, commercial and mixed-use markets. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the safe, profitable and successful delivery of complex projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Experience delivering Department for Education (DfE) projects would be highly advantageous.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Director, you will provide strategic leadership across major projects, ensuring excellence in programme, quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction. You will lead multidisciplinary project teams, manage key stakeholder relationships, and drive successful project outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of major construction projects valued at £50m+
- Take full responsibility for programme, budget, quality and safety performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Provide leadership and direction to project delivery teams
- Drive commercial performance and protect project margins
- Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, statutory and company requirements
- Support pre-construction and bid teams on future opportunities
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
- Deliver projects to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction
About You
You will be an accomplished Project Director with a proven track record of delivering large-scale construction projects for a Tier 1 or major regional contractor.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience operating as a Project Director on projects valued at £50m+
- Strong leadership experience managing large project teams
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- Experience delivering projects through design, procurement, construction and handover
- Demonstrable success delivering projects safely, on programme and within budget

Desirable Experience
- Department for Education (DfE) project delivery experience
- Public sector framework experience
- Experience on education, commercial or mixed-use developments
- NEC and JCT contract knowledge
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- SMSTS
- CSCS Black Card
- Relevant professional memberships desirable
