Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing?
We are seeking a Project Director to join our Energy Division at M Group where you will be part of our renewables business looking after several projects in a pre-contract environment. The projects you will be looking after will be in a regulated and non-regulated market.
- Location: This role can be flexible, however, travel to meet clients will be part of this role, so a full driving licence is required.
- Responsibilities:
- Lead on several tendering projects, aligning delivery with M Group’s goals.
- Create clear project plans, manage budgets, track progress, and adjust quickly to hit milestones and maintain profitability.
- Identify and solve risks early, ensuring the highest safety and compliance standards across all works.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Mentor and motivate your team, driving collaboration, quality, and environmental excellence.

What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field — and if you have a Master’s, even better.
- Experience leading projects in transmission, high-voltage substations (400kV / 275kV), or renewable generation.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, grid connections, and commissioning, with a proven track record of delivering major infrastructure on time and on budget.
- Sharp problem-solving with confident decision-making, backed by strong leadership, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate with ease at every level, building trust and collaboration across diverse teams and partners.
