At KBR, We Deliver. We’re seeking a Project Director – LNG Projects to technically and commercially deliver projects within our LNG Project Portfolio, reporting to the Director of Projects.


About the Role

This position demands expertise in LNG projects, with a proven track record in both greenfield/grassroots and brownfield environments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring safe, compliant project execution to meet client satisfaction, cost, schedule, and contractual obligations, with accountability for financial success.
  • Delivering project outcomes for financial performance, HSE, client satisfaction, budget, and schedule.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact between the client and KBR, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Building and sustaining project delivery teams across multiple locations/time zones.
  • Supporting business development via client engagements, presentations, and proposal work.
  • Adhering to KBR’s policies, procedures, and systems while managing project risks to mitigate delays or reputational damage.
  • Planning and executing projects while maintaining progress tracking (including Earned Value reporting).
  • Train, develop, and mentor future LNG Project Professionals.
  • Contract administration, including change orders, amendments, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Head technical and commercial delivery of FEED and Detailed Design projects across the LNG value chain.
  • Own financial performance, budget management, and adherence to schedules.
  • Resolve conflicts with internal/external stakeholders, clients, or third parties.
  • Earned Value Management and progress tracking with uncompromising accuracy.
  • Implement technical corrective actions via lessons learned and process improvements.
  • Proactively manage project scope changes, internal and KBR-led.
  • Close collaboration with subcontractors, from pre-enquiry to execution, including procurement and negotiation.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Primary interface with clients, ensuring satisfaction, transparency, and issue resolution.
  • Present project status to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Proposal and bid development to secure new business opportunities.

Team & Resource Management

  • Form and lead project teams globally, gravitating around multiple time zones.
  • Fire resource needs, coordinating with managers to secure expertise and workforce.
  • Mentor junior professionals, fostering KBR’s talent pipeline.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure project execution aligns with KBR’s Code of Business Conduct and ethical standards.
  • Supervise FDCO (Fraud, Deterrence, Collusion, and Observation) compliance.

Key Attributes & Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Demonstrated success in LNG project leadership, with a preference for experience across both new builds (grassroots) and retrofit/brownfield projects.
  • 5+ years’ leadership in LNG portfolios (single or multi-client) or detailed design-development assignments.
  • Proficiency in:
    • C3MR process technology and other LNG licensor technologies (e.g., Black & Veatch, Honeywell).
    • Project risk management, change control, and contingency planning.
    • Subcontracting management (procurement, agreements, and post-vendor issues).
    • Earned Value Management (EVM) and **cost control mechanisms”.
  • Undergraduate Engineering degree (or equivalent) + Professional Engineering qualification (PE) or Project Management certification (PMP/APMP) highly preferred/advantageous.

Soft Skills & Cultural Fit

  • Deep industry awareness of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), energy transition trends, and decarbonization strategies within LNG.
  • Strong influencing abilities—capacity to earn trust among internal teams and executive clients.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills to navigate sensitive client demands.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic global priorities and timelines.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Expertise in commercial and technical negotiation to secure scope and budgets.
  • Proven success in cross-functional teamwork, including multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams.
  • Proficiency in project/tracking software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Proactive communication—written, verbal, and presentation skills (e.g., senior stakeholder updates).
