Project Director - Major Civil and Structural Projects (UK) (2F49BDE)

Project Director – Large-Scale Construction (Self-Delivery Focus)

About the Role & Company

Referment is partnering with a Tier 1/2 contractor to appoint an experienced Project Director responsible for delivering complex, large-scale construction projects—primarily across the South West, with flexibility for candidates based in London (regional travel required).

This is a full-time, site-based leadership role, requiring minimal mobility (5 days/week) and hands-on accountability for safety, commercial performance, programme, quality, and people management, with a major focus on risk-bearing specialist contractor delivery in the structures and reinforced concrete sector.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive portfolio-level leadership, ensuring full end-to-end accountability for technically complex projects within varied infrastructure sectors.
  • Oversee P&L responsibility, balancing considerates for programme, commercial, safety, and quality in regulated environments.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams within a self-delivery operational model.
  • Build and maintain high-level client relationships, aligning expectations while excelling in regulated, high-pressure project delivery.
  • Champion engineering excellence, value engineering, and buildability to optimise project outcomes.
  • Authorise and oversee portfolio-level project controls, reporting, and performance analytics (contractual and operational).
  • Engage in pre-construction activities, shape tender methodologies, and guide project strategy and risk management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
