Project Director Role at Tony Gee and Partners

Job Summary

Tony Gee and Partners is looking for a Project Director or a talented and dynamic individual ready to elevate their career. In this position, you’ll work on extensive, multi-million-pound design projects, helping shape a strategy for diversification and growth within the UK energy sector—with potential opportunities to support international expansion.

We welcome both full-time and part-time candidates for this rewarding opportunity.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record in delivering design schemes across multidisciplinary teams, including:
    • Preparation of feasibility, outline, and detailed designs
    • Managing projects from UK-based civil engineering or energy sector markets
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, with expertise in:
    • Financial and resource control of design projects
    • Winning new work and building long-term client relationships
    • Mentoring and guiding junior team members in career development
  • Possess team player traits, with exceptional interpersonal skills and a growth mindset aimed at nurturing a capable project team.

Job Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary civil, structural, and energy projects across the UK as part of our Project Leadership cohort.
  • Guide and coordinate Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Lead Engineers, and Design Managers to deliver high-quality projects.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strengthen existing and forge new relationships with key clients and stakeholders to drive business growth initiatives.

Resource & Capability Management

  • Ensure projects are adequately resourced, balancing capability, capacity demands, and individual career development.

Project Oversight

  • Chair PMO teams, monitoring and controlling risk-related factors such as cost-to-schedule, quality deliverables, and compliance with budget targets.

Design Excellence & Quality Assurance

  • Actively challenge team approaches to improve design standards, time management, and cost efficiency.
  • Review design deliverables to add strategic value and enhance the project team’s overall ability.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with:
    • Company Health & Safety (H&S) procedures, CDM regulations, and legislation
    • Company Environmental Procedures, policies, and Environmental Legislation
    • Carbon Management Systems and ensure implementation of a Carbon Lead for projects

Mentorship & Continuous Learning

  • Assess same/similar technical/knowledge gaps within the team.
  • Train less experienced staff, sharing key expertise and coaching for long-term career progression.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards), with an MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

Location

  • UK-wide (Operating across 7 office locations)
