Eramine Sudamérica SA is a subsidiary of Eramet, a French global mining and metallurgical group. Located in the Salar Centenario Ratones, at 3,800 meters above sea level in Los Andes, Salta, Argentina, exploration activities have been underway for the past 12 years. At the end of 2019, our pilot plant began operating, demonstrating the high quality of the lithium carbonate product with over 90 percent direct extraction efficiency.
About the Project
This role is for the Project Director responsible for leading the CLP1.5 Stage 1 from Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) through execution preparation, construction, commissioning, and startup.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Governance
- Define and implement the overall execution strategy for CLP1.5 Stage 1.
- Lead and structure the Owner’s Project Team, ensuring alignment across all project functions with clear roles, responsibilities, and delegation frameworks.
- Develop a culture of ownership and accountability within the team.
- Ensure effective project governance, reporting, and decision-making processes.
- Achievement of HSE (Health, Safety, Environment), quality, cost, and schedule targets.
Budget & Schedule Management
- Full accountability for delivering the project within its approved budget (circa USD 350–400M CAPEX) and schedule commitments.
- Maintain robust cost and schedule control frameworks, monitor deviations, and adaptively address risks.
- Transparently report financial and schedule performance to senior management and corporate stakeholders.
- Manage contingency allocation and change management alongside the Project Control Manager.

Project Execution & Coordination
- Oversee engineering, procurement, construction, operational readiness (OPSCON), and permitting activities.
- Facilitate coordination between project activities and ongoing CLP1 production operations.
- Manage interfaces with engineering companies, contractors, and consultants.
Risk & Operational Integration
- Oversee project risk identification and mitigation.
- Resolve arbitrations between production constraints, tie-ins, and execution priorities.
- Integrate operational readiness and commissioning preparation into project execution.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in industrial project execution and management.
- Strong expertise in managing large mining-industrial projects (> USD 300M).
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget under complex execution.
- Preferred: Experience in hydrometallurgy, lithium, or chemical process industries.
- Leadership in multicultural and international teams.
- Deep understanding of operational constraints in brownfield execution.
- Ability to manage Owner’s teams, EPCM contractors, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead large, diverse teams with strong delegation and mentoring capabilities.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written) mandatory.
