About Yorkshire Water

We offer a competitive salary: £45,861 – £57,326 (depending on experience)

About the Role

Exciting opportunity to join our Engineering Team as a Project Engineer, supporting Yorkshire Water’s mission to deliver safe drinking water, protect the environment, and serve 5.4 million+ people in Yorkshire.

What We Do

We manage over £70m in projects (AMP8) to ensure regulatory compliance and resilience of Instrumentation, Control (C&I) systems, and automation systems across Yorkshire Water.

As a Project Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and absorb internal standards across C&I assets.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technicians to better our delivery capabilities.
  • Support both experienced and aspiring engineers through training in latest technologies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and test critical ICA services in these areas:
    • Instrumentation
    • PLC & HMI/LOI systems
    • SCADA applications
    • Site data networks
  • Lead technical/financial projects, ensuring best-value delivery.
  • Guarantee projects meet quality, statutory, and safety standards (Health & Safety, CDM compliance).
  • Act in Principal Contractor capacity for CDM projects.
  • Support compliant handover processes against agreed scopes.

Requirements & Skills

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, ICA Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical/Controls).
  • Broad experience with electrical & C&I equipment to solve business risks.
  • Certification for LV Electrical Authorisation.
  • Strong grasp of PLC, HMI, SCADA, instruments, and change control.
  • Diagnostic capabilities and problem-solving collaboration.
  • Sound understanding of CDM principles, health & safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Valid UK driving licence + flexibility to travel across Yorkshire.
