Skycutter is a UK-based designer and manufacturer of advanced small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) for commercial and defense applications. The company combines hydrogen fuel cells and high-energy-density battery technologies with ultra-efficient propulsion systems to achieve multi-rotor flight times exceeding three hours. Skycutter integrates specialist payloads such as LiDAR, bathymetric sensors, ground penetrating radar, cameras, and delivery systems tailored to client needs. The multidisciplinary team includes aircraft design engineers, fuel cell specialists, electrical and software engineers, and test pilots focused on safety, usability, and high-performance UAV solutions. Team members collaborate closely with customers to enable reliable, mission-ready platforms and services.
Role Description
The Project Engineer role at Skycutter is a full-time, on-site position based in Loughborough. This role involves leading engineering projects from concept through to testing and delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements, timelines, and quality standards are met. The Project Engineer will plan and track project milestones, prepare technical documentation, and support integration of power systems, propulsion, and specialist payloads into sUAS platforms. Day-to-day activities include collaborating with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers, managing risks and issues, and supporting test and validation activities on the ground and in flight. The role also includes regular communication with internal stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements, provide updates, and ensure successful project outcomes.
