About The Role

At Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution, we're delivering the infrastructure needed to support the UK's evolving energy network. We're looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of major power transmission and underground cabling projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex cabling works, working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, site teams and supply chain partners to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

While our immediate focus is within the Lincolnshire and Peterborough region, you'll also have the opportunity to support projects across our wider UK Power T&D portfolio, helping to deliver critical infrastructure that will power the UK's future.

What you'll be doing

As Project Engineer, you'll support the planning, coordination and delivery of cabling and power infrastructure works from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Coordinating engineering and construction activities across major cabling projects.
  • Reviewing and implementing technical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
  • Supporting the safe delivery of works through the development and review of RAMS, permits and site documentation.
  • Managing subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, quality and commercial requirements.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying risks and implementing effective solutions.
  • Planning and coordinating labour, plant, materials and resources to achieve project milestones.
  • Supporting project planning activities, resource-loaded programmes and short interval control processes.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, reports and site documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with customers, stakeholders and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Promoting Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm culture and ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements.

Who we're looking for

We're keen to hear from candidates with experience delivering infrastructure, utility or power projects, particularly those with exposure to cable installation, underground cabling or major power transmission works.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
