Project Engineer – Major Projects Capital Delivery

Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Major Projects Capital Delivery team, based in Stoke or Telford.
The Major Projects Capital Delivery team is responsible for delivering major construction, reinforcement, and new connection schemes across the 33/66/132kV network, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of essential infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer, you will oversee project management across plant, overhead, and underground systems, with the following key duties:
- Ensuring Project Safety, with strict compliance to Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations.
- Managing projects to a recognized project management standard (APM), including forecasting and delivering construction and financial milestones.
- Managing project-related network risk.
- Procurement and Contractor Management, ensuring suppliers meet safety, quality, and performance expectations.
- Performing Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties.
- Supporting the maintenance and problem-solving of existing plant and equipment.
- Leading commissioning and maintenance of protection systems.

Qualifications & Requirements
We are seeking candidates with strong technical expertise, motivation to develop further, and operational experience. Key qualifications include:
- Practical knowledge of protection and control systems, including experience commissioning equipment.
- Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status, authorized up to 132kV.
- Experience within a Distribution Network Operator (DNO), independent DNO (iDNO), or Infrastructure Company (ICP) environment.
- Proven background in a high-hazard industry with a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Familiarity with plant specifications and the confidence to address technical challenges.
- A Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification (or equivalent).
If you do not hold the above, you must commit to completing one of the following training programmes:
- An HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or
- A Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering.
Depending on experience, initial salary may vary until all relevant certifications and training are completed.

- Self-motivated, adaptable, and autonomous.
- Capable of performing effectively under pressure.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and discipline.
Mandatory: Mobility across the network area and participation in standby duties as per a pre-determined rota.
