Substation Project Engineer (HV Primary Plant)
Home Based (Occasional travel to Glasgow)
We are looking for an experienced Substation Project Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme supporting the expansion of the UK's electricity transmission network. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects that will help deliver the UK's transition to Net Zero through the development of new high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions for new-build and refurbishment substation projects up to 400kV
- Produce outline scope documents, primary plant layouts, site plans and Single Line Diagrams
- Review contractor and consultant detailed designs
- Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards and Safety by Design principles
- Support construction and commissioning activities
- Evaluate technical tenders and manage specialist engineering consultants

Requirements
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Experience delivering HV transmission or substation projects
- Strong understanding of Primary Plant Engineering
- Experience producing or reviewing Single Line Diagrams and substation layouts
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and ESQCR
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration is desirable
