Project Engineer – Fire Suppression Glasgow

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Regional Install UK / Contracts Manager UK, you will provide first-line management support to a team of installers, engineers, and subcontractors. You'll lead key installation initiatives, drive team performance, and ensure the successful delivery of projects while supporting the growth and strategic objectives of our UK installation business.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Installation Management teams to review and improve the department’s current aims and objectives.
  • Record, monitor, and manage any defects and Specification/Scope deviations.
  • Direct management of a designated team of engineers within the Install Department.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the Engineers and Sub-Contractors work while on site.
  • Responsible for the implementation of procedures for the execution of work, briefing instructions to the staff in a timely fashion, and ensuring that best practice is exercised.
  • Planning and scheduling of manpower and equipment requirements for programmed jobs, guaranteeing that the jobs are completed within the specified time frame and budget allocated.
  • Management and monitoring of engineers’ documentation to ensure both accuracy and expediency, including certifying timesheets for correct hour booking and appropriation.
  • Conduct regular safety and quality audits on the Engineers and Sub-Contractors to ensure that the employees are using the correct equipment and are working safely.
  • Identify development areas by means of regular performance assessments with the engineers to develop a training plan for the team/individuals. This includes conducting annual appraisals.
  • Manage work in hand to maximize productivity of the team, accuracy of forecasts, and jobs completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and control allocated budgets and prepare reports and programmes as required by the Head of Regional Install / Contracts Manager UK.
  • Manage debt and minimize disputes by liaising directly with the Credit Control Department, which in turn will allow invoices to be passed for payment.

What we look for

  • Able to deal with client requirements in a fast and speedy manner.
  • Experience of working within an installation team and all responsibilities that come with this role.
  • Experience in supervising/managing a team of engineers.
  • Ability to build, develop, and manage a team through hard work, professionalism, adherence, and cadence while fulfilling projects.
  • Full UK driver's license.
  • Experience in managing and planning of Mechanical Fire Suppression systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within the Fire/Sprinkler Industry is preferred.
  • PC literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Preferred competency of standards, i.e., LPCB BS12845, plus NFPA.
  • Due to the nature of this position, applicants must already have the unrestricted legal right to live and work in the UK. Sponsorship or visa support is not available for this role.
