About The Role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D is looking for a talented Project Engineer to join our team on the Pitsmoor 33kV project in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a critical power infrastructure scheme, supporting the construction, commissioning and handover of essential electricity network upgrades.
Working alongside the Project Manager and wider project team, you'll help deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality engineering solution while ensuring programme, commercial and operational objectives are achieved.
What you'll be doing
As Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for coordinating and managing engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting the planning, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and close-out of the project.
- Translating engineering designs and technical information into practical site delivery solutions.
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure works are completed safely and to programme.
- Leading project meetings, reviewing progress and maintaining accurate project documentation.
- Writing, reviewing and approving RAMS and ensuring compliance with safe systems of work.
- Championing a strong health, safety and environmental culture, with a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
- Monitoring progress, identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation measures.
- Supporting project controls, resource planning and short-interval planning activities.
- Ensuring quality standards, audits and assurance activities are completed and acted upon.
- Managing plant, materials and resource requirements to support successful delivery.
- Supporting commercial performance through change management, cost control and efficient resource utilisation.
- Developing and mentoring junior engineers and supporting the wider project team.

You'll Ideally Have
- Previous experience in a Project Engineer or Senior Site Engineer role within the power, utilities, energy or major infrastructure sectors.
- Experience delivering HV or power network projects, ideally within substation or distribution environments.
- A strong understanding of project delivery, construction methodologies and engineering principles.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work and managing health and safety responsibilities on site.
- The ability to identify, manage and mitigate project risks.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
- A solutions-focused approach to problem solving and decision making.
- The confidence to influence, challenge and collaborate with colleagues, clients and supply chain partners.
- A commitment to developing others and fostering an inclusive working environment.
