job Summary
The Project & Applications Engineer is responsible for developing designs, preparing technical and commercial bids, conducting design calculations, securing drawing approvals, and creating technical specifications and associated documents to ensure proper system design and equipment selection. The role involves providing engineering support to the EIS sales team and project management, as required.
essential Duties and Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of the position include:
- Providing applications support to the sales team and assisting with bid preparation, including costed commercial proposals for approval by the Sales Manager.
- Researching and reviewing project requirements and design information to ensure it is sufficient to complete the design while meeting the design concept.
- Assisting in the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations.
- Coordinating with Sales Managers, Project Managers, and other team members to establish essential functions and deadlines for specific projects.
- Determining the appropriate methods for creating drawings.
- Analyzing reports, maps, drawings, tests, aerial photographs, and other topographical and geologic data, to plan and design projects.
- Completing the drawing process using the information contained within documents, adhering to the Scope of Work.
- Assessing the commercial impact of different solutions for materials, processes, and performance requirements, while determining the most appropriate selection to manage spend within project budgets.
- Reviewing supplier drawings and documentation as required.
- Assisting in the preparation of scopes and estimates for proposals.
- Supporting R&D project work.
- Troubleshooting client issues on and off-site.
- Undertaking other job duties as required.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Chemical or Mechanical engineering field, or relevant demonstrated experience.
- Experience in process plant development and in air movement in ducts, fans, or similar systems.
- AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a creative, professional, and team-oriented environment.
- Civil or mechanical engineering experience is advantageous.

To execute each responsibility successfully, the role requires:

- Design – Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles required for creating precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technology, including using techniques, procedures, and tools for design and production.
- Mechanical – Understanding of machines, tools, and their operation, repair, and maintenance.
- Mathematics – Competence in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics, and their applications.

Travel Requirement
- Incumbents are expected to travel up to 25% of the time.
