Project Engineer - Live Services
Project Engineer
At OQC, we aren't just theorising about the future; we're building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we've successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality. The most exciting thing is that we're just getting started—we've recently closed our £260 million Series C funding round, the largest fundraise ever completed by a quantum computing company in Europe.
The Purpose
As a Project Engineer within our Live Services team, you'll play a key role in delivering OQC's quantum computers into commercial data centres around the world. Working across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams, you'll coordinate complex deployments from planning through to go-live, helping bring the future of computing into production environments.
The Role
As part of the Live Services team, you'll ensure deployments are delivered safely, efficiently, and to plan. You'll be responsible for coordinating project activities, maintaining deployment documentation, and working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful installation, commissioning, and ongoing service delivery.
What You'll Be Working On
- Coordinate end-to-end deployment activities from site preparation through installation, commissioning, validation, and go-live
- Develop and maintain project plans, deployment documentation, and implementation records
- Support the transition of quantum computing systems from R&D environments into commercial data centres
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, and external vendors to ensure:
- Equipment readiness
- Logistics coordination
- Compliance activities completion
- Schedule and coordinate onsite maintenance activities with customers, engineering teams, and service providers
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and delivery risks, escalating issues where appropriate
- Travel to customer sites, supplier locations, and OQC facilities to support installations, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
