Project Engineer Opportunity
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure services provider within the Water and Wastewater sector for a Project Engineer to join their Capital Delivery team working on the Anglian Water IOS Framework in Colchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation delivering essential infrastructure projects across the water sector. The successful candidate will support the delivery of multiple Civil and MEICA projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget and in line with client requirements and industry regulations.
Working within the Water and Wastewater Capital Delivery team, you will play a key role in delivering projects that help safeguard water supplies, improve environmental performance and maintain resilient infrastructure for future generations. The role offers a combination of office and site-based working, with regular travel across East Anglia.

- Deliver Civil and MEICA projects in line with programme, budget, specification and client requirements
- Support the Project Delivery Manager with the successful delivery of multiple capital projects across the Anglian Water framework
- Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, environmental and health & safety requirements
- Monitor project performance and identify risks impacting programme, cost or quality
- Raise Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Change Requests where project delays or cost implications arise
- Capture and record asset changes including decommissioning, alterations and newly created assets within relevant corporate systems
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, contractors and operational teams throughout project delivery
- Attend site visits and oversee project activities to ensure quality and compliance standards are achieved
- Support project planning, reporting and documentation processes
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for innovation across project delivery
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide a high level of customer service
- Support the successful delivery of clean water and water recycling treatment projects across East Anglia
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with client expectations and regulatory requirements
Required Skills and Experience of the Project Engineer
- Engineering background with strong practical and technical knowledge
- Engineering qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND or Degree level)
- Previous customer-facing experience with strong stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of project delivery principles within an engineering environment
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable working across both office and site environments
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel regularly across East Anglia
- Located within a commutable distance of Colchester

Desirable Experience
- Experience within the water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure sectors
- Knowledge of Civil and MEICA project delivery
- Understanding of NEC contracts, Early Warning Notices and change management processes
- Experience working in a regulated environment
- Knowledge of clean water or water recycling treatment processes
