Project Engineer – Telecoms Networks (SPEN OTP)

Location: Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, Scotland (100% Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months - Extendable

Contract: Outside IR35

Start: Immediate

Clearance: BPSS (Standard)

Driving License: Mandatory (travel across Scotland required)

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Project Engineers to support the delivery of telecoms infrastructure projects across the SPEN network in Scotland. You will be responsible for planning, installation, commissioning, technical documentation, site surveys, and supporting project delivery while working closely with project managers, field engineers, and network operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver telecoms installation and commissioning projects.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Conduct site surveys and support project planning.
  • Install and commission telecoms equipment, racks, and chargers.
  • Produce technical documentation, network diagrams, and project handover documents.
  • Create Health & Safety documentation (RAMS, POWRA).
  • Provide technical support during customer meetings and critical incidents.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in telecoms/network project engineering.
  • CCNA-level knowledge of IP Networking, LAN, WAN, and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P.
  • Strong routing, switching, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with XTran technology.
  • Microsoft Visio for network documentation.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning of telecoms equipment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
