Join us in shaping the future of energy! As a Senior Project Engineer within our Grid Technologies Substations division, you will play a pivotal role in delivering critical infrastructure projects for key UK energy clients, SPEN and SSE. You will lead comprehensive project planning and execution, ensuring that every phase from design to final handover is meticulously managed. Engage with stakeholders and clients to foster strong relationships, while maintaining rigorous financial and commercial control to ensure project profitability. Your expertise in managing complex engineering projects will be essential as you navigate the challenges of the high-voltage sector, making a significant impact on the energy landscape.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • You will develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations for substation projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements (SPEN/SSE).
  • Oversee all project phases from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and health & safety (H&S) standards across all project sites and activities.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, commercial, and scheduling issues.
  • Manage all project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and final closure documents to ensure a complete project record.

What You Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager, successfully delivering complex engineering or construction projects within the high-voltage power transmission, distribution, or substation sector.
  • You have demonstrable experience managing project budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with major UK utility clients is highly desirable.
  • Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) and APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) are a plus.
