Permanent Role: Platform Delivery Team Lead (PX CDT) – Radar and Advanced Targeting (Edinburgh)

This team provides engineering support across the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept and feasibility studies to solution implementation and integration.
About the Role
As the Platform Delivery Team Lead reporting to the PX CDT PEM (Principal Engineering Manager) and Chief Engineers, you will:
- Lead & manage the PX CDT Platform Delivery Teams, aligning their efforts with strategic objectives
- Define and implement a design, development, and delivery strategy for the teams in collaboration with the PX CDT PEM and Chief Engineers
- Ensure resource sufficiency by managing and reviewing the forward load, optimising team size and skill sets to meet current and future programme demands
- Identify emerging technologies, engaging with Chief Engineer and RATs Capability teams to safeguard IP rights
- Collaborate with the PX CDT Function Leads to maintain a critical mass of Specialised Qualifications, Expertise, and Professional (SQEP) skills, driving innovation and timely product delivery across key domains
- Evaluate & approve new workload proposals, ensuring the platforms can support business-winning opportunities within the RATs Line of Business
- Oversee implementation of appropriate Life Cycle Management (LCM) processes for all work products delivered by the Platform Delivery Teams
- Foster strong relationships with sector delivery integrated product teams (IPTs) across the RATs Line of Business
- Apply and monitor adoption of work package management techniques (e.g., Earned Value Management – EVM), ensuring cost and schedule compliance
- Promote re-use and standardisation of engineering artefacts across the PX CDT and RATs sectors
- Support ongoing professional development within your engineering teams, nurturing talent growth

Requirements
We seek a proactive engineering and leadership professional who excels in chaotic, high-complexity environments. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in applying governance frameworks for Engineering LCM processes
- Skills in eliciting stakeholder expectations and setting aligned objectives
- Strong senior-level leadership with robust decision-making under pressure
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of earning trust across technical teams and executives
- Understanding of system integration challenges, including interdependencies, cost impacts, schedule risks, and mitigation strategies
- A results-driven mindset, with clear delivery orientation and tenacity to produce tangible outcomes

This role is subject to pre-employment security clearance aligned with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Depending on role scope, further National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, including:
- Security Check (SC)
- Developed Vetting (DV)
