aping a role as Project Engineering Manager/Design Manager, reporting to the PPP Head of Engineering Capability and Assurance, with the opportunity to join our Warrington or Whitehaven team—or travel flexibly to client locations if based elsewhere.
You'll collaborate with experienced engineering professionals to assure delivery across the entire lifecycle of project work—from feasibility studies through to commissioning and handover. This role is ideal if you're seeking leadership within a global engineering consultancy, contributing to a strategically important portfolio.

The Role
The Project Engineering Manager (PEM) / Design Manager will hold key responsibilities, including:
- Leadership: Oversee and coordinate engineering design for utilities and infrastructure modifications, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery aligned with project timelines.
- Compliance: Act as CDM Principal Designer, providing design leadership and maintaining cost, schedule, and change control across scope.
- Project Accountability: Ensure the successful delivery of major portfolio projects across all lifecycle stages—from feasibility studies to construction, including HV/LV and water assets.
- Team Leadership: Direct a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and managers to meet technical and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
As PEM/Design Manager, you will:
- Manage major engineering delivery on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects.
- Lead utilities and infrastructure design, with experience in HV/LV (high/low voltage) and water assets.
- Implement CDM Principal Designer responsibilities or oversee designated Senior Designers.
- Execute design coordination and interface management, ensuring cross-discipline alignment.
- Oversee change control, forecasting, and project performance metrics.
Key Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should hold:
✅ Proven experience in major engineering projects (including EPC environments). ✅ Specialist experience in utilities and infrastructure design—HV/LV systems and water networks. ✅ Practical knowledge of CDM Principal Designer roles or capacity to accept responsibilities. ✅ Demonstrated strong design coordination and stakeholder interface skills. ✅ Experience with change control, risk forecasting, and KPI-driven performance management.

Who You Are
As a successful candidate, you’ll be a chartered engineer (or equivalent) with:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in the Nuclear Industry (or other regulated environments), including regulatory frameworks and safety standards.
