Role Description

The Project Estimator is a full time role based in Coventry, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for civil engineering and utility projects. Day to day tasks include reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation; analysing materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs; and developing detailed estimates and proposals.

The Project Estimator will monitor cost performance against estimates, assist with value engineering, and contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes. This position requires consistent on site coordination to ensure estimates reflect current site conditions and operational constraints.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Project Estimation and Construction Estimating to develop accurate and detailed cost assessments for civil engineering and utility works.
  • Candidates should possess solid Cost Management and Budgeting skills to control project financials, track variances, and support profitable delivery.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, clients, and suppliers, and to present estimates and cost reports clearly.
  • Relevant experience in civil engineering, utilities, or construction estimating, ideally within excavation, installation of electricity, water, gas or EV infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and MS Excel, strong numerical and analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in Coventry, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and contribute to a collaborative, safety focused work environment.
  • Formal training or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is highly beneficial.
