Project Finance Analyst

Job Title: Project Finance Analyst

The Project Finance Analyst will work closely with the internal team to provide project financial support and ensure project financials are properly monitored to maximize project profitability and cash flow.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end administration of the project lifecycle, from startup, maintenance, and closeout, in accordance with the contact budget.
  • Coordinate configuration of the project & contract modules, including the assignment of rate sets / plans to activities and the corresponding billing & revenue lines.
  • Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Mange month-end close process for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance to drive results to department goals for Revenue, Margins, & AR.
  • Partner with the Project Manager(s) in the financial support of the project.
  • Improve project financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends and recommending actions to management.
  • Pull and review study time reports and work with project teams to ensure hours are entered correctly.
  • Coordinate with project teams to assign resources to projects.
  • Monitor monthly compliance reports to ensure timely reporting of revenue & billing deliverables.
  • Create and submit invoices to customers on a monthly basis for all ProPharma projects.
  • Maintain internal and customer reports; reports include spend forecasts, project actuals, and cash flow analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of invoice backup requirements, and client reconciliation requests as required.
  • Track project financials and properly escalate within ProPharma for utilization concerns and contract value limitations.
  • Duties as assigned, including other projects within support Business Operations.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Attention to detail.
  • Fast learner and eager to grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience creating and submitting invoices.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including but not limited to VLookups, HLookups, analyzing data utilizing Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts).
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Clinical Research and/or consulting knowledge.

Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management, Life Science, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ work experience in Project Finance at a CRO.
