Project Finance Legal Counsel
Island Green Power is a leading renewable energy company developing utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across the UK and internationally. As we continue to expand our project portfolio, we are seeking a Project Finance Legal Counsel to join our growing in-house legal team and play a key role in supporting the financing, acquisition, development, and delivery of major renewable energy projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused lawyer with experience in project finance, energy, infrastructure, or corporate transactions to work on complex, high-value deals that directly contribute to the energy transition.
The Opportunity
Working closely with colleagues across Development, Finance, Commercial, and Executive teams, you will support a broad range of project finance and transactional matters across our renewable energy portfolio. The role offers significant exposure to project acquisitions and disposals, financing transactions, joint ventures, and commercial contracting within a fast-growing business.

- Supporting project finance transactions, including the structuring, negotiation, and review of finance and project documentation.
- Advising on and negotiating key project agreements, including SPAs, shareholders' agreements, joint development agreements, development services agreements, EPC contracts, BESS supply agreements, and PPAs.
- Leading and coordinating legal due diligence workstreams and transaction data rooms.
- Supporting project acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, and financing transactions.
- Identifying legal risks and working with internal stakeholders to develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Managing corporate governance matters across project SPVs and supporting company secretarial requirements.
- Supporting transaction execution, compliance, KYC, and audit processes.
- Managing external legal advisers and contributing to the continuous improvement of legal processes and templates.
About You
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- Qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction).
- Approximately 3-5 years' PQE.
- Experience gained within a leading law firm or in-house legal team, with a focus on project finance, energy, infrastructure, banking, corporate, or commercial transactions.
- Experience supporting project finance transactions and associated construction, finance, and offtake arrangements.
- Strong transaction management and due diligence experience.
- Excellent commercial judgement and the ability to work effectively with non-legal stakeholders.
- A proactive, organised, and solutions-oriented approach.
- An interest in renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects.
