SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen within a collaborative, people-first culture. Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, we are seeking a Project Engineering Geologist to join our established Land Quality team in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office.

Our busy and well-established Land Quality team delivers a wide range of geo-environmental assessments and site investigations across the built environment, infrastructure, industrial, and energy sectors. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, and contaminated land specialists, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects while benefiting from excellent opportunities for professional development within a truly global consultancy.

The Role

You'll support and manage the delivery of geo-environmental projects from initial assessment through to reporting, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary colleagues. The role includes:

  • Managing and supervising all aspects of geo-environmental fieldwork
  • Undertaking desk-based studies and preliminary risk assessments
  • Planning and coordinating site investigations and laboratory testing programmes
  • Developing and implementing health and safety plans for site works
  • Managing and supervising ground investigation activities
  • Logging soil and rock samples to industry standards
  • Coordinating laboratory testing and analysis
  • Collating, manipulating, and assessing environmental and geological data
  • Preparing technical reports and providing clear, practical advice to clients
  • Supporting project delivery across a range of sectors including built environment, industry, infrastructure, and energy

About You

You'll bring:

  • Experience in geo-environmental site investigations and reporting
  • A degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Experience managing fieldwork and coordinating site investigation contractors
  • Knowledge of contaminated land and geo-environmental assessment practices
  • Strong data analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting skills
  • An understanding of relevant health and safety requirements for site-based work
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive approach and commitment to delivering high-quality project outcomes
  • A driving licence that permits you to legally drive in the UK, as regular site visits will be required
