A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Project Implementation Engineer, you will take responsibility for a delegated element of a larger project, ensuring that contractual, technical, commercial, and quality commitments are met from start to completion. Your day involves coordinating internal teams and subcontractors, monitoring progress, managing documentation, and supporting outage and service execution activities so that senior project managers can focus on broader project delivery.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Monitor delegated project scope to ensure time, cost, quality, risk, and resource targets are met, while tracking progress across all functions and initiating corrective actions when plans deviate.
- Manage commercial elements of assigned work packages, including estimates-to-complete, financial reporting, and protection of the company’s commercial interests.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure all technical, commercial, and work scope requirements are fulfilled.
- Prepare and maintain outage execution plans and documentation packs for both manufacturing and field operations.
- Procure materials, tooling, and services, managing purchase orders from creation through to closure.
- Support field service execution by coordinating manpower, tooling, and materials through internal systems.
- Maintain project management systems such as WBS structures, planned costs, revenue tracking, and contract documentation, while preparing quality and EHS documents including ITPs, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Identify risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, contribute to mitigation planning, participate in internal and external project reviews, communicate issues clearly to stakeholders, and build strong customer relationships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
