Job Description: Project Lead

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Lead to join our project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Lead will be responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of the project, ensuring it is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and technical expertise, with an emphasis on effective communication and stakeholder coordination.

Duties:

  • Manage overall project cost, schedule, and budget from inception through to completion
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure seamless execution of project activities
  • Analyse, track, and manage critical milestone activities to prevent schedule delays and ensure timely delivery
  • Review and evaluate construction proposals, pricing, and scopes of work
  • Lead and facilitate client meetings and other required project coordination meetings
  • Monitor and report on factors that influence construction costs, preparing data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction procurement methods and manage long-lead equipment delivery schedules
  • Review, validate, and audit cost estimates prepared by subcontractors and other project stakeholders
  • Support engineering and design decisions related to cost and budget during design-build changes
  • Track and verify equipment availability in line with the project schedule
  • Coordinate and oversee scheduling consultant reviews and ensure integration with project controls
  • Review and approve invoices, payment applications, and retention payments
  • Manage the handover process to the client, including close-out documentation, warranties, and final deliverables

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other relevant project management tools
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage subcontractors, and coordinate multidisciplinary project activities
  • Commercially astute, with a strong understanding of project financial management and cost control
  • Capable of working under pressure to meet demanding schedules while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards
