About Fusebox Games
At Fusebox Games, we create world-leading choice-based narrative mobile games enjoyed by millions of players globally. Since 2016, we’ve established ourselves as pioneers in interactive narrative experiences, blending licensed IPs and original storytelling.
We’re seeking an experienced Project Lead Writer to lead narrative delivery for one of our live projects. This creative leadership role requires somebody who combines exceptional writing and editing skills with strong project management, people leadership, and stakeholder coordination.
The Role
As Project Lead Writer, you will own every aspect of the narrative season—from initial concept through to launch.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of writers, coordinating with Production, Product, Design, and QA teams.
- Collaborating with external IP partners to ensure top-tier creative and commercial standards.
- Upholding narrative quality while meeting deadlines.
- Coaching writers and optimising narrative workflows for future improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead from concept to launch for an entire game season.
- Oversee project planning alongside Production and the Narrative Producer.
- Organise writers’ rooms, script development, reviews, rewrites, playtesting, and launch.
- Ensure on-time delivery of narrative milestones while maintaining consistency and high standards.
- Drive continuous improvements to narrative workflows and delivery processes.

Writing & Narrative Quality
- Write, edit, and review interactive scripts to an exceptional standard.
- Maintain character voice, tone, and branching narrative coherence.
- Ensure all content aligns with IP branding, creative vision, and Fusebox narrative standards.
- Identify and rectify quality issues before release.
- Champion best practices in interactive fiction writing and narrative design.
Team Leadership
- Line manage and develop writers of varying experience levels.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development conversations.
- Coach writers to improve storytelling, technical writing, and delivery.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and skill development for new hires.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Build strong relationships with internal teams (Product, Production, QA, Art, Design).
- Collaborate closely with external IP partners throughout development.
- Present creative ideas, narrative documentation, and project updates with confidence.
- Balance creative vision with gameplay, monetisation, and production constraints.
Requirements
We’re looking for a storyteller with leadership and organisational acumen.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Extensive game/narrative writing experience, particularly for interactive media.
- Proven track record leading writing teams or creative projects at scale.
- Outstanding editing skills with an unwavering attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of branching narratives, player agency, and interactive storytelling.
- Experience working with licensed IP or established brands.
- Robust project management skills, including planning, prioritisation, and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cross-functional collaborations simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication for creative and managerial discussions.
- A collaborative, solutions-driven leadership approach.

- Experience with mobile free-to-play games or live service products.
- Familiarity with narrative design tools and scripting pipelines.
- Experience using player data/insights to refine narrative choices.
