Project Management Apprentice (Level 4 Project Management Apprenticeship)

Looking to start your career in project management and make an immediate impact? Essex County Council is offering a fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity (up to 21 months) for a Project Management Apprentice.

As a Project Management Apprentice, you’ll:

Key Accountabilities

You’ll assist by:

  • Coordinating day-to-day project activities and processes
  • Supporting project documentation (plans, reports, risk logs)
  • Monitoring progress against milestones and escalating issues
  • Contributing to stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Providing administrative support (scheduling, action tracking, records)
  • Learning and applying project management methodologies under supervision

Annual performance objectives will be set individually and shared.


Experience & Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Interest in Project Management with a desire to develop knowledge and skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Teamworking ability and collaboration mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • English Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Evidence of Level 3 study (e.g., A Levels, BTEC, T Levels, Apprenticeships, or equivalent experience)

Interview Process

  • 6th July 2026: Applications close
  • 17th July: In-person assessment day (Chelmsford)
  • w/c 20th July: Final MS Teams interview
  • 3rd August: Apprenticeship registration
  • 1st September: Estimated start date
