Project Manager Opportunities – SSEN Transmission Capital Delivery
Base Location
Successful applicants must be based in Aberdeen or Perth, supporting projects across Angus, Aberdeen, and Aberdeenshire with a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.
Salary & Benefits
- £50,100 – £75,100, inclusive

About the Roles
Join SSEN Transmission’s Capital Delivery team, playing a key role in delivering infrastructure critical to Scotland’s Net Zero transition.
These positions form the backbone of SSEN’s £20m–£500m+ projects, requiring expertise in complex, safety-critical transmission projects across Scotland.
As a Project Manager, you will:
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating external contractors to ensure safe, on-time, budget-compliant delivery to high-quality standards.
- Oversee development and construction phases, ensuring full compliance with governance, best practices, and regulatory obligations.
- Apply SSE’s Safety Management Systems, CDM regulations, and robust governance structures across all project stages.
- Build strategic relationships with internal/external stakeholders to foster clear communication, informed decision-making, and team collaboration.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance support to the project team.

Responsibilities
- Manage large-scale transmission projects, ensuring alignment with SSE’s Pathway to 2030 investment programme.
- Navigate stakeholder complex dynamics, balancing technical, commercial, and operational priorities.
- Apply verifiable cost, forecasting, and programme management expertise (preferred experience with NEC3 contracts).
- Foster safety-first culture in every phase of project delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in project management, engineering, or construction, with expertise in health and safety legislation and CDM regulations.
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Track record of successfully delivering large or complex projects—ideally in electricity transmission, but transferable skills from other industries welcome.
- Experience managing NEC3 contracts, costs, forecasts, and integrated project programmes.
- Line-management experience, with proven ability to coach, mentor, and guide reports effectively.
- Full valid driving licence and willingness to travel, typically requiring 2–3 days per week on-site during active construction.
