A well-established international engineering and manufacturing group specialising in advanced monitoring, measurement and analysis technologies.

The organisation develops high-reliability products for the aerospace, defence, power generation and industrial sectors. Its aerospace division provides monitoring and diagnostic solutions for aircraft, while its industrial division supplies condition-monitoring and machinery-protection systems for turbines and other critical rotating equipment.

Operating across the UK, Europe and North America, the company combines specialist engineering expertise with an established international presence. Continued investment in research and product development has created an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join its North Devon team. This will be a customer-facing role, requiring regular communication with customers to understand their requirements, provide project updates and ensure successful delivery.

Info About What The Project Manager Role Entails

Full time Monday – Friday 38.5 hours per week.

As Project Manager, you will lead a varied portfolio of complex engineering and product-development projects within a regulated, engineering & technology-led environment.

You will take responsibility for projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial planning and requirements definition through development, testing, qualification and final delivery. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure projects meet agreed timescales, budgets, quality standards and customer requirements.

This is a customer-facing role in which you will act as a key point of contact, provide regular progress updates and manage expectations. You will work collaboratively with customers and internal teams to resolve technical and commercial issues and achieve successful project outcomes.

The role involves managing multiple projects and competing priorities, coordinating resources, monitoring performance and addressing risks before they affect delivery. You will also support new product development, continuous improvement, and the preparation of bids and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and product-development projects from inception through to delivery.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks and issues.
  • Develop and maintain resource forecasts across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams covering hardware, software, mechanical engineering, manufacturing and quality.
  • Support requirements capture, design, implementation, verification and qualification activities.
  • Produce and maintain project and product-development documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects comply with New Product Introduction processes and applicable regulatory and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement improvements to project and product-development processes.
  • Contribute to bids, proposals and new-business opportunities.
  • Work alongside the Engineering Management Team to support wider business objectives and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements Of The Project Manager Role

  • Three to five years’ experience as a Project Manager within aerospace, engineering or a technology-led environment.
  • Proven experience delivering multiple complex projects within an engineering environment.
  • Experience managing projects throughout the full lifecycle, from requirements capture and planning through to verification, qualification and delivery.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, including gathering requirements, providing progress updates and managing expectations.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, risks and issues.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams.
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Commercially aware, proactive and comfortable managing changing priorities.
  • PRINCE2 or PMP qualification is preferred. Candidates without a formal qualification will be considered if they can demonstrate successful delivery of multiple complex engineering projects.
