Project Manager
Project Manager – (Wastewater Treatment Projects)
The Role
As Project Manager, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to construction, commissioning and handover to the client.
You will lead all areas of Civil, Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Engineering scope of works across the project — or a series of smaller projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Programme management
- Commercial management
- HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental) development and awareness
You will lead in a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience.
Your role will be essential in enabling the Contracts Manager to achieve project outcomes. Given the diverse nature of Glanua’s work, you’ll engage across a variety of multi-disciplinary engineering activities, allowing you to specialise and progress your career along multiple pathways. Training and promotion will be available as your skills and interests grow within the company.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team delivering one or more projects simultaneously, embodying a "one team" ethos.
- Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability (HSQE) standards on-site.
- Promote a positive Health and Safety culture within the team.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including clients, client representatives, and third-party agencies.
- Ensure client satisfaction through a culture of cooperation and collaboration.
- Lead and coordinate the multi-discipline Civil, MEICA and Process teams for on-time, on-budget, high-quality project delivery.
- Facilitate coordination as PSDP (Project Specific Design Partner) for live projects, interacting with internal and external designers.
- Act as PSCS (Principal Supervisor for Construction Safety) on live sites within your remit.
- Prepare and maintain all required on-site documentation.
- Conduct regular Health and Safety inspections on-site.
- Deliver and lead toolbox talks and whiteboard meetings.
- Implement best-practice project management techniques, such as:
- Lean Construction
- Last Planner
- Monitor project performance, including risk and opportunity management.
- Mitigate risks and leverage opportunities as needed.
- Report monthly project performance to the Framework Manager, covering:
- Programme progress
- Budget performance
- HSQE adherence
- Lead procurement of supplies and sub-contracts on time and within budget.
- Manage project cash flow, ensuring:
- Interim payment applications submitted on-time to clients.
- Build and mentor industry-leading teams by:
- Instituting training programmes
- Setting development plans
- Supporting recruitment as a hiring manager
- Assist in tendering for new projects by offering oversight and guidance.
- Respond promptly to client and stakeholder complaints.
- Gather client satisfaction survey feedback and implement improvement initiatives.
- Continuously improve project delivery through:
- Sharing lessons learned
- Developing innovative solutions for adoption.
- Stay current with industry standards and new technology.
- Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Fulfill other duties as assigned on an ad-hoc basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential requirements for the role:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably within the water and wastewater sector.
- Specialised experience in project managing:
- Civil engineering works (e.g., concrete construction, pipelaying)
- MEICA installations (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation packages)
- Ability to operate under pressure while delivering key project objectives.
- Strong financial negotiation skills to engage with:
- Clients
- Suppliers
- Sub-contractors (including final account agreements)
- Familiarity with programme management software, particularly:
- Microsoft Project (baseline preparation and updates).
- Independent problem-solving to address issues as they arise during project execution.
- Highproficieniency in Microsoft Office tools, including:
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Exemplary communication skills combined with high motivation.
- Full, valid driving licence.
