About The Role
At Balfour Beatty, we're delivering some of the UK's most critical power infrastructure, helping to reinforce and expand the electricity network that keeps the country connected. As demand for reliable, resilient energy infrastructure continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business and lead the delivery of major power cabling projects across the UK.
Working on high-profile transmission and distribution schemes, you'll play a key role in delivering complex underground cable installation and associated infrastructure projects, ensuring work is completed safely, sustainably and to the highest standards. From early planning and design through to construction, commissioning and final handover, you'll have overall responsibility for driving successful project outcomes while leading multidisciplinary teams and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
As Project Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the safe, successful and profitable delivery of power cabling projects, ensuring they are completed to programme, budget and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading the delivery of major power cabling projects from inception through to successful completion.
- Managing multidisciplinary project teams and creating an environment where individuals can thrive and perform at their best.
- Maintaining a relentless focus on health, safety and environmental standards, driving a culture of Zero Harm across all project activities.
- Developing and managing project programmes, budgets, resources and delivery strategies.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, supply chain partners and internal teams.
- Monitoring project performance and implementing corrective actions to manage risks, issues and opportunities.
- Overseeing commercial, procurement, design, construction and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensuring robust project governance, reporting and project controls are maintained.
- Managing subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure contractual and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Leading risk management processes and maintaining ownership of project risk and opportunity registers.
- Supporting the development, mentoring and progression of project teams.

Who we're looking for
We're keen to hear from experienced project professionals who have a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects within the power sector, particularly on cabling schemes.
You'll Ideally Have
- Project management experience within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.
- Strong experience delivering power cabling projects, including underground cable installation and associated infrastructure.
- Demonstrable experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from planning and design through to commissioning and handover.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.
- Experience managing project budgets, programmes, risks and resources.
- A sound understanding of construction contracts and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and industry health & safety requirements.
- Relevant project management qualifications and/or engineering background (desirable).
- Flexibility and willingness to travel and work across project locations throughout the UK as required.
