Project Manager

Project Manager – Multi‑Utilities (MU)

Location: North West Position Type: Full-time Industry: Utilities / Multi‑Utilities

We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager (Multi‑Utilities) to oversee multi-utility projects across the North West. You’ll be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of schemes by collaborating with developers, internal teams, and subcontractors from design handover through to completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of multi-utility projects from inception to completion
  • Ensure full Health & Safety compliance across all sites, including audits, toolbox talks, and incident reporting -Coordinate design handovers, pre-starts, mains laying, permitting, and plot connections
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders
  • Lead operatives and subcontractors to maximise productivity and project efficiency
  • Monitor ELFs (Engineering Liaison Fees), cost utilization, and material consumption
  • Order and manage plant, equipment, and materials efficiently
  • Oversee site standards, signage, and housekeeping to meet regulatory and company requirements
  • Submit required paperwork, progress reports, and Proof of Delivery (PODs) on time
  • Drive effective, profitable project delivery under budget and schedule constraints

Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in the Multi-Utilities industry
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience working across underground utilities projects

Qualifications & Certifications (mandatory)

  • CITB SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme
  • NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor certification (Unit 1-6)
  • EUSR SHEA G/W/E (Safe Highways Engineer Approved) – Gasser, Welder, and Escorter roles
  • EUSR S.C.O (GB) Asbestos Competence Prerequisite (Units 1 & 2) and S.C.O (GB) 5
  • EUSR Safe Control of Mains Connections (Water)
  • EUSR SCMC(W) Senior Competent Person certification
  • Valid First Aid (3-day)certificate
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for regular site visits)

Skills & Attributes

  • Comprehensive knowledge of utilities systems and safe working practices
  • Strong planning, organisational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schedules, and contract documentation
  • Practical experience driving site progress and on-time completion within budget constraints
  • Competent communication skills, with a client-focused approach
  • Results-driven, proactive mindset able to manage multiple priorities and escalations
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to maintaining high standards in project execution
