Role Overview

At Viasat UK, our team provides industry-leading, government-approved Data at Rest encryption solutions to government and defence organisations globally. Our capabilities extend across multiple systems and platforms within diverse domains, offering versatile projects and exciting opportunities.

The Project Manager Role

As a results-driven Project Manager reporting to the Programme Director, you will be responsible for delivering projects through their full lifecycle—ensuring adherence to time, cost, and quality.

You’ll:

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team and co-ordinate a multi-functional delivery team
  • Utilise excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure alignment on outcomes and objectives
  • Foster collaborative relationships to develop customer intimacy and drive growth and change management

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Reporting & Administration

    • Scheduling, financial reporting, budgeting, and risk management
    • Internal progress meetings and customer progress meetings (virtual and in person)
  • Stakeholder Management

    • Internal/external stakeholder engagements
  • Delivery Coordination

    • Cross-departmental working
    • Matrix management of multi-disciplinary delivery teams
  • Process & Methodologies

    • Effort estimation and scheduling
    • Resource and time management (via Time Management Systems)
    • RAID log identification and management
    • Change control processes
    • Compilation of whitepapers, bids, and proposals (content, cost, and scheduling)

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in project management, preferably in a technical environment
  • Qualifications in APMP/Prince 2 Practitioner (or equivalent recognised frameworks)
  • UK national status with the capability to achieve DV (Disclosure and Vetting) security clearance
  • Minimum of 3 days per week on-site in our Farnborough location
  • Strong working knowledge of common project management methodologies

Desired Skills & Experience (adding value)

  • An ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Prior experience in project delivery to MoD and/or secure communications
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project
