About The Project
Curzon Street station is a new £800m HS2 project in Birmingham city centre. The station development, whilst forming part of the new HS2 network between London and the North, will provide a catalyst for development across the East side of Birmingham. As a leading station, Curzon Street strives to provide a centre of excellence for the development of best practice reporting and management models.
About The Role
The Project Manager is responsible for the effective planning, management and coordination of some of the Network Rail (NR) interfacing packages such as ground investigation and Rail Line Retaining Wall works packages. Manage Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) package subcontract in accordance with the works requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the I&M manager to manage the monitoring designer to ensure successful completion of the monitoring design sufficient to assure HS2 and key stakeholders.
- Identify and manage safety, programme, cost, environmental and community risks involved with monitoring and survey design.
- Develop I&M implementation scope and lead on I&M implementation procurement.
- Manage all site-based staff, workers and subcontractors related to monitoring, including recruitment of suitable and appropriate staff.
- Ensure that all data acquisition is processed and analysed correctly.
- Produce daily results and changes in readings reports.
- Maintain all setting out documentation.
- Authorise requisitions for materials, plant and equipment and payments to subcontractors.
- Bring non-conformances to the attention of the Engineering team, taking immediate corrective action whenever possible.
- The preparation of monitoring and survey reports.
- Supervise, train and instruct survey-related personnel to ensure quality, timely and safe work practices.
- Prepare Method Statements and procedures for all site-based survey activities.
- Enforce instructed methods of surveying and monitoring as defined in the Method Statements and Procedures.

Requirements
- Experience within a similar role within an appropriately sized engineering organisation.
- Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline OR a lower educational level (HNC or HND) with a relevant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role.
- Experience in similar roles with a Network Rail interface.
- Membership of an appropriate Professional body or an international equivalent professional status.
- Excellent communication skills (including presentation skills) in English, both written and verbal and the ability to report at both Project and Board level.
- Ability to manage teams of people in a multi-disciplinary environment. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage own time.
