The Role
The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.
We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut-off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world-class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK’s clean-energy future.
What You'll Be Doing
You will provide overall leadership for diaphragm wall and soil-mixing works on a major infrastructure project, with accountability for safe, high-quality and commercially successful delivery within an NEC4 Alliance environment. The role integrates technical delivery, site operations, programme, commercial and contractual performance, while providing strong leadership to multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
- Delivery & Integration: Lead and integrate operations, design, plant, procurement and commercial functions for D-Wall and soil-mixing works, setting clear standards, governance and performance expectations.
- Leadership & Culture: Set the vision, behaviours and leadership standards for the team; develop capability and succession; manage formal people processes where required; act as a senior client and alliance interface.
- Safety & Quality: Champion a Zero Harm culture, sponsor significant investigations, assure learning and corrective action closure, and define safety and quality strategies, KPIs and assurance regimes.
- Programme, Productivity & Commercial: Own the master programme, productivity targets and commercial strategy; control critical path and float; lead forecasting, CVR, compensation events and negotiations; resolve disputes and drive value.
- Contractual & Alliance: Provide contractual leadership under NEC4 Option C, chair risk-reduction meetings, manage change and claims, interface with the Alliance Board/Core Group, and ensure obligations are flowed down.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
