Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Scotland. This role will be primarily based in Inverness, with potential travel across additional sites to support operations. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, the role entails managing the delivery of multiple ongoing contracts, ensuring compliance with quality, programme requirements, and commercial performance.
You will oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring:
- Contractual agreements adhere to legal standards, project needs, and health & safety regulations
- Collaboration with stakeholders to enforce contract terms
- Proactive risk mitigation and negotiation of contract conditions
Key Accountabilities
Health & Safety (H&S)
- Hold overall responsibility for on-site H&S, treating it as a core, non-negotiable value
- Stay current with H&S standards, policies, and updates, sharing them across the team
- Monitor and manage all H&S aspects: equipment safety, welfare facilities, PPE compliance
- Enter all accidents and near misses per reporting procedures
- Support H&S investigations and apply disciplinary protocols for breaches
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SEPA General Binding Rules
- Report all environmental incidents, near misses, or hazards
- Assist with investigations and enforce disciplinary measures for breaches

Quality Management
- Drive high-quality standards aligned with company values
- Maintain completed checklists for works undertaken
- Conduct contract reviews per agreed intervals
- Confirm Inspection and Test Plan documentation
Commercial Excellence

Optimise project costs while mitigating waste and delays

Foster client satisfaction to build long-term partnerships

Oversee plant & material sheets for accuracy and completeness

Generate reports from tender meetings, aid estimating handover

Validate sub-contracts for compliance before works commence

Review and update drawings, identifying potential anomalies

Expand client networks where beneficial

Demonstrate experience managing projects valued up to £1.5 million

Commercial Institute (NEC) knowledge: Clear understanding of roles under CDM regulations (Client, Principal Designer, Principal Contractor)

Execute programme, risk management, and cost controls, including forecasting, actual cost, and variance reporting

Deep expertise in civil engineering specification and testing

Proficiency in setting out principles, datum levels, and survey coordination (hands-on execution)

Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive civil engineering portfolio
- Degree/HNC/HND/SVQ level 4 in Civil, Building Construction, or Construction Management
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
- Rigorously detail-oriented
- Complex problem-solving competence
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
- Knowledge of NEC Contract Conditions
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2+ years as a Site Agent
- Valid CSCS Managers card
- IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS qualification
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work away from home as site demands
- Occasional overtime/weekend shifts required
