Location: Theale, Berkshire, South East England

Job Type: Contract (Full-Time, 6 weeks)

Salary: £280 - £300 per day

A leading construction business seeks a Project Manager to oversee a new build steel frame warehouse project currently at the early earthworks and groundworks stage. This role requires hands-on experience managing groundworks and earthworks operations to ensure timely and safe project delivery.

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate and manage all aspects of the earthworks and groundworks phase of the steel frame warehouse project.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Lead and supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Monitor progress through regular site inspections and update project documentation accordingly.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or risks that may impact the project timeline or quality.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and other stakeholders to provide progress reports and address queries.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with environmental and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, materials, and labour utilisation.
  • Coordinate delivery and storage of materials to optimise workflow and minimise delays.

Required Qualifications

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
  • Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • Current First Aid qualification.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Experience

  • Proven experience managing earthworks and groundworks activities on construction sites.
  • Previous experience working on steel frame warehouse or industrial building projects is advantageous.
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of groundworks and earthworks processes and best practises.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities to manage diverse site teams.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to construction sites.
  • Competency in project documentation, reporting and site record keeping.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time contract position based on-site in Theale, Berkshire.
  • Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Requirement to wear personal protective equipment at all times on site.
  • Regular site visits, inspections and coordination meetings.
  • Some flexibility in working hours may be needed to meet project deadlines.
