Project Manager / PMO Analyst (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract) – DS Smith
Here at DS Smith, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager / PMO Analyst on an initial 6-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC).
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Project Manager / PMO Analyst to support the Applications & Services I&T function in delivering the iHub platform programme.
This role is central to ensuring:
- Strong governance
- Effective programme coordination
- High-quality delivery across a complex portfolio of work
You will act as a key enforcer of programme discipline by:
- Maintaining structure and oversight
- Ensuring governance processes are clearly documented and followed
- Managing deliverable sign-offs
- Recording supporting evidence accurately
Additionally, you will support resource and access management, facilitating internal and supplier delivery. As a trusted PMO partner, your responsibilities include:
- Monitoring programme progress
- Tracking risks, dependencies, and reporting for key forums like Programme Board and Steering Committee meetings
- Analysing data to identify insights, optimisation opportunities, and stakeholder interventions
This role requires someone who can operate strategically and operationally—balancing big-picture delivery with sharp attention to detail.
You will be a strong multitasker, collaborating across project teams, suppliers, and leadership to:
- Strengthen communication
- Embed consistent ways of working
Key Responsibilities
Programme Governance & Delivery Oversight
- Prepare reports and materials for forums (Programme Board, Steering Committee, Supplier Board) and capture meeting outcomes
- Ensure governance standards, controls, and processes are followed and maintained
- Manage and update key programme controls (RAID logs, change control, delivery plans)
- Coordinate milestone sign-offs and ensure deliverables + evidence are accurately documented
- Oversee resource onboarding, including supplier engagement, access, and equipment provision

Supplier & Operational Support
- Facilitate supplier management (invoice approvals, SLA tracking, contractual compliance)
- Provide clear and engaging programme communications
- Collaborate with Project Managers and supplier leads to align on reporting, documentation, and execution
Senior Stakeholder Liaison
- Assist in preparing presentations and stakeholder briefings
- Analyse programme data to inform optimisations and decision-making
Strategic Roadmap & Improvement Activities
- Support portfolio and resource planning
- Embed consistent PMO frameworks across the I&T delivery function
About You
You will:
- Ensure adherence to ** agreed project management standards** throughout the project lifecycle
- Advise and assist Project Managers and teams in using Planview and maintaining reporting disciplines
- Guide Group IT Project Managers on frameworks and best practices
- Develop procedures aligning with governance and standards
- Produce portfolio reports, risk logs, and change registries
- Foster communication within the IT delivery team
- Monitor projects (milestones, schedules, resource commitments) to inform portfolio updates
- Disseminate project portfolio information to executive teams and directors

Minimum Requirements
- Experienced Project Manager / PMO Analyst (preferably in IT programmes, though flexible)
- Expertise in data analysis (particularly with Power BI)
- Proven Planview/PPPM experience (not mandatory, but advantageous)
- Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects/portfolios
- Strong Project Plan, Delivery Roadmap, and Stakeholder Alignment skills
- Ability to merge and adapt Delivery and Project Plans
- Skilled in producing high-quality PMO artefacts (documentation, communications, review materials)
