Job Title: Project Manager – National Respiratory Audit Programme (NRAP)
Location Liverpool (Combined with hybrid homeworking featuring a minimum 6 days a month in office – core working hours: 08:00–16:00 or 09:00–17:00)
Contract & Salary Fixed-term contract until 31 May 2028 | £38,663
About the Role
The Royal College of Physicians is recruiting a Project Manager to oversee the National Respiratory Audit Programme (NRAP), driving quality improvements in respiratory care across primary, secondary care, and pulmonary rehabilitation.
The programme delivers national clinical and organisational audits across England and Wales, with a focus on:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) audit
- Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) initiatives (adult and CYP panels)
- Adult and children/young people panels (coordination via a subcontractor)
This role is critical in delivering elevated national engagement, embedding patient perspectives, and monitoring programme outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Core Project Delivery
- Manage and report on the COPD audit, ensuring full alignment with contractual deliverables in collaboration with audit stakeholders.
- Oversee PPIE panels for adults and children/young people (CYP), coordinating with the subcontractor to ensure effective participant representation and enthusiasm.
- Develop and implement a refreshed PPIE strategy to integrate patient and carer perspectives throughout the programme lifecycle.
Internal and External Leadership
- Nurture strong working relationships with clinical leads, NHS partners, and subcontractors to refine operational processes and hit programme milestones.
- Enhance the programme’s external profile, raising awareness and participation rates in audits and PPIE activities.
About You
You are a highly organised, results-driven professional with expertise in project management, ideally grounded in healthcare or NHS settings. Your experience will span:
- Multi-project capability – managing workflow across projects, stakeholders, and tight deadlines.
- PPIE experience – experience coordinating Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement initiatives, especially in healthcare contexts.
- Stakeholder management – collaborative work in NHS environments, effectively balancing clinical leadership expectations and public engagement needs.
- Communication excellence – confidently interacting with diverse audiences, from clinical experts to the broader public.
- Reasoned problem-solving – confronting challenges with a practical, proactive approach to deliver outcomes.
