Role Overview
The Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned projects from initiation through to handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality. This role will act as the central point of contact for the project team, client, and supply chain, driving progress, managing risk, and ensuring effective communication across all stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage all project activities and resources, taking responsibility for project delivery against programme, cost, and quality targets.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring critical paths are identified and managed; implement corrective actions to recover delays where required.
- Manage project budgets and financial performance, produce forecasts, monitor costs, and approve expenditure in line with company procedures.
- Coordinate the procurement and management of labor, subcontractors, and materials, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and company procurement policies.
- Lead site-based teams and subcontractors, providing direction, setting expectations, and promoting a collaborative approach to achieving project milestones.
- Identify, record, and manage project risks and issues; implement mitigation measures and escalate matters appropriately to senior stakeholders.
- Prepare and issue project documentation, including meeting minutes, action logs, progress reports, site instructions, and handover dossiers, to maintain clear audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company health & safety requirements, leading by example, and ensuring site teams adopt safe working practices.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and statutory bodies to resolve technical and commercial matters promptly and maintain strong working relationships.
- Monitor quality control processes, undertake inspections, and ensure defects are managed and rectified in line with project specifications and standards.
- Support commercial activities by identifying variations, preparing supporting information, and working with the commercial team to agree entitlements.
- Coach and mentor junior staff, sharing best practice and supporting professional development within the project team.

Requirements
- Proven experience delivering construction projects, ideally gained with a main contractor, developer, or consultancy.
- Demonstrable experience of managing programmes, budgets, and site teams, with a track record of delivering to time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Good commercial awareness with experience managing variations, contract administration, and basic commercial reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly to clients, project teams, and senior management.
- Organized and methodical with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with project management software and Document Management Systems is desirable.
- Relevant professional qualification or membership (or equivalent experience) in construction management, civil engineering, or related discipline is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
