Project Manager – Programmes Team (Electronic Warfare & Uncrewed Air Systems)
Location: Hurn, Bournemouth Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) | Permanent

We specialise in Electronic Warfare (EW) technologies and Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS), enabling real-world training for defence capabilities.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to support Draken’s strategic expansion through effective program management. You will play a key role in delivering cutting-edge Electronic Warfare Technology and Uncrewed Air Systems projects, working within an environment that balances complex technical requirements with rigorous governance.
As a Project Manager on our Programmes team, you will:
- Manage multiple complex, multi-stakeholder projects ensuring they deliver against scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Lead delivery of airborne mission systems to enhance operational performance in dynamic defence environments.
- Collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, balancing technical, logistical, and regulatory considerations.
The role offers the chance to work at the forefront of military innovation, gaining expertise in both defence technology and project management frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery
- Manage projects and work packages to achieve agreed scope, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, forecasts, and resource requirements.

Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and coordinate project teams and external stakeholders.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, opportunities, and changes.

Communication & Reporting
- Maintain effective communications with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Track, monitor, and report project performance, progress, and variances.
- Support PMO reporting, governance, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Compliance
- Build and sustain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all deliverables meet technical, regulatory, and operational standards.

Strategic Contribution
- Support business transformation, change programmes, and operational improvements.
- Drive efficiency through structured project management frameworks.
About You
Draken is seeking a proactive, organised, and high-impact Project Manager with experience in complex technical environments. You will thrive in a collaborative setting and possess strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience managing multiple simultaneous projects or work packages in a defence/technical environment.
- Strong project planning, scheduling, and risk management expertise.
- Ability to manage budgets, change controls, and technical stakeholders effectively.
- Experience with structured project governance methodologies.
- Technical competency in at least one:
- Microsoft Project / Project Web App
- Power BI reporting & administration
- Microsoft 365 applications

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Technical background in:
- Defence, aerospace, aviation, or engineering.
- Electronic Warfare, missile systems, uncrewed air systems, or aeronautical engineering.
- Formal education in:
- Engineering, Physical Sciences, or equivalent (e.g., apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree).
- Hold a qualification in project management (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, Agile).
